Kicking off Hispanic Heritage Month

Newark Latino Film Festival has partnered with Newark Museum, which kicks off its Hispanic Heritage Month with festivities throughout the museum. Film will be shown, followed by a panel discussion with poet Dimitri Reyes, artist/activist Torch Fuego, and multimedia producer

Mama Rejectz. Moderated by Newark native & motivational speaker Lizette Vargas). This event precedes a performance by Lisa Lisa of The Cult Jam (7:30pm).

FREE EVENT. First from 6 - 6:30pm, a fun phone camera workshop by filmmaker Ramon G. Nazario. Our 7pm main event features a short family film shown via our partner, Colectivo Workshop (the solar paneled Architecture & Design office as a theatre in the parking lot for indoor/outdoor viewing of short films)! Enjoy healthy, delicious cultural food and refreshments (including popcorn)!

Art & Prozak will be ending its art event with short films, including from the Newark Latino Film Festival. Light refreshments, delicious "mocktails" (non-alcoholic herbal wines).

Red Carpet Opening! Free screening of festival award winning short videos. LEGACY Awards presented to

Felipe Luciano and Wille Sanchez. Emceed by poet, activist, and author Porta Rock. Plus, cultural art exhibition. Food, refreshments, music, performances. Also, re-screening of the Nazarios' short film, "Latinx: Culture at the Crossroads."

Enjoy ordering the delicious food of Blue Print Café while screening the selected short film "Body Jumpers" (directed Alex Fernandez), and the selected feature, "The Streets" by Eddie "Rocky" Rivera. Also, music video, "El Jefe." Panel discussion with the filmmakers and cast.

Topic: "Depicting Latinx Heroes & True Urban Legends in Film."
